Job summary

ACS Group is seeking an Experienced Field Service Technician to travel up to 75% for troubleshooting and repair of plastics processing equipment at customer sites. You will work with electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and ERP/MRP systems to ensure safe and timely service.

The role requires associate degree or 2+ years’ experience, valid license, ability to obtain passport, and proficiency with Outlook/Excel/Word.

Qualifications

• Associate degree and/or 2+ years’ experience installing and servicing complex machinery.
• Must understand ACS/customer policy/procedure, and OSHA/EPA requirements.
• Frequent air/auto travel with minimal notice is required.
• Must have current and valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Must have passport or be able to obtain passport when required.
• Understanding of OSHA requirements.
• Able to use basic hand tools, electrical meters, and electrical devices for repairs.
• Experience with Windows-based programs (Outlook, Excel, Word).
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (Avante and BPCS) is a plus.
• Self-driven, professional and organized; able to work independently.

ACS Group maintains an expansive product line, which includes size reduction equipment (granulators and shredders), material conveying equipment, metering and blending devices, heat exchangers (mold temperature control units and chillers), drying systems, and presses. These products are marketed under such recognizable brand names as AEC, Sterling, Cumberland, Wabash and Carver.

Manufacturing facilities are located in New Berlin, Wisconsin and Wabash, Indiana with a third facility located Suzhou, China to handle the needs of the Asian market.

The Field Service Technician must be willing to travel up to 75% of the time and be able to troubleshoot and repair all electrical and mechanical portions of assigned ACS equipment supplied and must be handled professionally, with high workman standards and completed in a timely manner.

A successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Full understanding of Material Handling equipment, which includes electrical schematics, mechanical piping/install drawing and unit operation
• Collect and record all information. This information must be complete, clear and organized. This includes, but not limited to service reports, field feedback, expense reports, time sheets and any quote request.
• Work must be completed in a safe manner the first time with quality workmanship
• Support the goals of the department by assisting customers with professional service, technician phone support, parts and production/in-house work
• Must be able to control proper stocking levels, personal and company issued tools in operation order and make sure that any unsafe or potential issues are identified
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Generate quoted business to meet monthly goals
• Control cost when working with expenses
• Other duties as assigned

• Technicians must have a full understanding of any ACS, customer policy/procedure, local and federal guidelines that are needed to fulfill the requirements to complete the assignment. This includes, but is not limited to lockout/tag out procedures, OSHA and EPA requirements
• Frequent air/auto travel with minimal notice is required
• Must have current and valid driver's license with good driving record
• Must have passport, or be able to obtain passport when required
• Understanding of OSHA requirements
• Able to use basic hand tools, electrical meters (AC, DC, amps, ohm, voltage) and electrical devices required for repairs
• Understanding systems to convey plastic (knowledge of type of plastics)
• Must have full understanding of Windows-based programs such as Outlook, Excel and Word
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems (such as Avante and BPCS) is a plus
• Knowledge to download/upload PLC software from computers, e-proms or flashcards
• Must be professional, self-driven and organized
• Must be able to work independently without much supervision
