Job summary

Power Electronics in Washington, DC is seeking a Field Service Technician to maintain and commission utility-scale solar and battery inverter systems across the U.S. You will perform start-up, diagnose faults, replace MV equipment, and ensure safety protocols.

Ideal candidates have a Journeyman or Master Electrician license, 2–3 years field service, and strong reporting skills. Travel and 24/7 support coverage are required.

Qualifications

• Journeyman or Master Electrician license required.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in electrical/electronics engineering or related technical field.
• Minimum 2–3 years in field service, commissioning, or maintenance of industrial electrical equipment.
• Strong understanding of electrical systems and components.
• Experience with solar inverters, MV equipment, and power electronics desirable.
• OSHA/NFPA 70E or similar safety certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform start-up and commissioning of solar inverters at photovoltaic plants.
• Ensure systems are configured and operating according to specifications.
• Diagnose and repair inverter faults in the field.
• Replace components such as MV transformers, switchgear, electronic boards, and fuses.
• Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance (software/hardware).
• Submit accurate daily field reports detailing work performed and time spent.
• Travel across the U.S. as required; be available for emergency support and 24/7 service coverage when needed.
