Job summary

Eagle Mark 4 Equipment Co. is seeking a Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain railcar movers and other industrial vehicles at customer sites.

The role requires performing routine maintenance, repairs, and on-site service calls with a strong emphasis on safety and customer satisfaction. You will use diagnostics tools and hydraulics knowledge to diagnose issues and provide accurate estimates.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical certification preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in a service technician role.
• Experience with hydraulics and computer diagnostics; ability to interpret schematics.
• Valid Driver’s License and insurable driving record.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Pre-employment drug screening required.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and troubleshoot breakdowns to minimize downtime and estimate on-site repairs.
• Set up and operate metalworking tools to fabricate/repair parts.
• Perform routine maintenance: inspections, part replacement, lubrication, and electrical repairs.
• Inspect used parts for changes in factory specifications.
• Review repairs with customers; handle field quoting and service communications.
• Use Mobile Service app to close jobs, generate work orders, collect signatures, and mark as complete.
• Provide daily status updates to dispatchers and account manager.

Field Service Technician - Railcar Movers

JOB SUMMARY

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial vehicles, including railcar movers, container handlers, and terminal tractors. Perform routine maintenance and breakdown repair work in the field at customer sites. Prioritize work orders, comply with safety incident reporting, and ensure all paperwork is submitted timely and accurately. Provide excellent customer service and maintain company-provided assets, including all work tools and vans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Diagnose and troubleshoot customer breakdowns; provide proper repairs to minimize equipment downtime and initiate estimates for on-site repairs.
• Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
• Perform routine scheduled maintenance, including standard inspections, repair and replace defective parts, lubricate parts, and repair electrical equipment.
• Inspect used parts to determine changes in factory specifications.
• Review repair work and scheduled maintenance results with customers, communicating any potential issues. Responsible for field quoting and communicating services to customers.
• Utilize the Mobile Service application to close the day, fill out work orders, obtain customer signatures, finalize jobs, and mark them as complete.
• Provide daily status updates to the dispatchers and review any customer issues or concerns with the dispatcher and account manager.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

• High School Diploma or equivalent. Vocational or technical certification preferred.

REQUIREMENTS

• 3+ years of experience in a service technician role.
• Previous experience with hydraulics and computer diagnostics. Ability to interpret and apply schematic diagrams.
• Valid Driver’s License and driving record acceptable to insurance company.
• Ability to work independently and to effectively prioritize demands and execute tasks.
• Strong attention to detail, project management, and organizational skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to internal and external customers in a clear and concise manner.
