A family-owned equipment services company located in Chanute, Kansas is seeking a Railcar Mover Field Technician. In this role, you will perform repair and preventive maintenance on railcar moving equipment while communicating effectively with customers. Ideal candidates have strong mechanical skills, the ability to read technical documents, and will possess or obtain a Class A CDL. Qualifications

• Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics.
• General knowledge of basic hand tools and air tools.
• Must be able to read specifications and technical bulletins.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL.
• Shuttlewagon experience is a plus.

Railcar Mover Field Technician / Mechanic

Our Railcar Mover Field Technician is primarily responsible for providing high quality rebuilds and repairs to respond to customer needs quickly and efficiently to ensure maximum value for work performed on railcar movers.

What You Will Do in This Role:

• Perform repair and preventive maintenance on railcar moving equipment and evaluating for other preventative maintenance items to address with the customer.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot problems, give recommendations for repairs and make all critical repairs and adjustments.
• Test and verify correct operation of all repairs and adjustments.
• Some troubleshooting on equipment may occasionally be required.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers on their repairs.
• Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

Our Ideal Candidate:

• Basic mechanical knowledge including mechanical, electrical and hydraulics.
• General knowledge of basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments.
• Understand crane hoist and rigging equipment (preferred).
• Must be able to read and comprehend specifications, service and parts literature, technical bulletins and other related publications.
• Ability to obtain a Class A CDL.

What will put you ahead:

• Experience working within the diesel mechanics industry (specifically with railcar movers).
• Stable work history.
• Shuttlewagon experience is a plus.
• Valid Class A CDL.
