Job summary

James Hardie Building Products is seeking a Field Technical Support Specialist to diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in the field, supporting dealers and end users. The ideal candidate brings 3+ years in field service, strong customer service and communication, and the ability to travel frequently with a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• 3+ years in mechanical systems troubleshooting, construction, or field service.
• Hands-on with motor controls, low-voltage wiring, and system installations preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Capable of working independently, with travel for on-site service support.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and installation issues on product systems through phone, email, and on-site support.
• Troubleshoot motor controls, wiring connections, structural alignment, and system operation concerns.
• Respond to all dealer service calls within 2 business hours; coordinate field visits or technical follow-ups as needed.
• Document service issues, technical solutions, and field feedback in the service management system within 48 hours.
• Maintain a fully stocked technical service van with tools, test equipment, and product parts for on-site troubleshooting.
• Lead or assist in dealer training sessions on product installation techniques, system calibration, and operational best practices.
• Participate in product field testing, providing detailed feedback on mechanical and electrical system performance.
