Job summary

James Hardie, a leader in exterior home solutions, is seeking a field service and mechanical troubleshooting specialist. You will diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and installation issues on product systems via phone, email, and on-site support.

The role requires 3+ years in field service, experience with motor controls and low-voltage wiring, and the ability to travel. You will document issues, maintain the service van, and assist in dealer training and field testing.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in mechanical systems troubleshooting or field service.
  • Hands-on with motor controls, low-voltage wiring, and system installations.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Independent worker with some travel.
  • Ability to document issues and follow-up.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and installation issues on product systems through phone, email, and on-site support.
  • Troubleshoot motor controls, wiring connections, structural alignment, and system operation concerns.
  • Respond to all dealer service calls within 2 business hours; coordinate field visits or technical follow-ups as needed.
  • Document service issues, technical solutions, and field feedback in the service management system within 48 hours.
  • Maintain a fully stocked technical service van with tools, test equipment, and product parts for on-site troubleshooting.
  • Lead or assist in dealer training sessions on product installation techniques, system calibration, and operational best practices.
  • Participate in product field testing, providing detailed feedback on mechanical and electrical system performance.

Summary

What You'll Do

What You'll Bring

  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Capable of working independently, with occasional travel for on-site service support
Travel Requirements
  • Must be able and willing to travel frequently, including air travel across regional and national locations.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have the ability to rent and operate a car for travel and field support assignments.
What You'll Receive

As of the date of this posting, a good faith estimate of the current pay scale for this position is $55,000 to $60,000. Placement in the range depends on several factors such as experience, skills, geography and internal equity and may change over time. This position qualifies for benefits and you will be eligible to participate in a bonus plan.
