Job summary

McGrath is seeking a Field Service Technician in Mokena, IL for a full-time, dayshift role. Expect 90% travel across the Midwest. The position offers an hourly wage between $21.40 and $36.50 with benefits and a safety-focused environment.

You will service modular equipment at customer sites and branches, perform mechanical, electrical, and plumbing maintenance, and train customer staff on machinery upkeep. A valid driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • Prior construction experience required; basic electrical, plumbing, and flooring with an emphasis to learn HVAC.
  • Ability to communicate with customers regarding work status and service concerns.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance service, repairs and construction in areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, HVAC, roofing and electrical.
  • Responsible for the safety, quality and productivity of themselves at all customer locations.
  • Maintain inspection log(s) for equipment/vehicle and report exceptions; ensure equipment is maintained to Company and safety standards.
  • Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the Company’s construction standards.
  • Operate Company vehicle.
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, procedures and work orders.

Field Service Technician - M-F Dayshift

Full Time Regular Craft Workers Mokena, IL, US

Salary Range: $21.40 To $36.50 Hourly

The specific pay rate and level, if applicable, will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, prior experience and location.

**This role requires extensive travel throughout the Midwest region, up to 90% of the time, including overnight travel as business needs require.

“A Day In the Life”

As a Field Service Technician you will maintain modular equipment in the field at customer sites and at the branch. You will perform problem solving maintenance for but not limited to mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. You will also perform routine maintenance, cleaning and construction in the field of modular buildings. Update and record information on company assets and systems. Perform routine evaluations of work to be performed. Safely operate Company provided vehicle (<10,000lbs GVW) to travel to various locations and service modular and related equipment. Duties include installing and repairing equipment, and training customer employees on how to maintain machinery. Perform trial run of machinery to ensure performance rates and quality meet established specifications while delivering exceptional customer experiences.

“What You’ll Do”
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance service, repairs and construction in areas of but not limited to plumbing, carpentry, painting, flooring, HVAC, roofing and electrical
  • Responsible for the safety, quality and productivity of themselves at all customer locations
  • Responsible for positive interface with the customer and ensuring the company’s reputation is improved with every customer contact
  • Maintain inspection log(s) for equipment/vehicle and properly report exceptions; ensure equipment is maintained to Company and safety standards
  • Safely perform all tasks and understand Company’s safety policies and procedures
  • Deliver a high-quality output consistent with the Company’s construction standards
  • Operate Company vehicle
  • Read and understand blueprints, schematics, procedures and company specific work orders, work instructions and floor plans provided
  • Work outside in variable weather conditions
  • Use both manual and power tools and follow operating guidelines
  • Performs other duties as assigned
“Must Haves”
  • Prior experience in construction or related work required; basic electrical, plumbing and flooring with an emphasis to learn HVAC
  • Ability to communicate with customers regarding work status and service concerns
  • Valid driver’s license
“Nice to Haves”
  • HVAC training and experience combined with an EPA certification preferred
Special Considerations:
  • 90% travel and overnight stays throughout the Midwest Region
  • May be required to drive extended distances to customer sites
  • Position requires manual dexterity and the ability to maintain physical activity for most of the day
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and hold or lift a variety of objects
    • Able to carry, bend, stoop, turn, kneel, crawl, climb a ladder and other manual labor activities
