Job summary

Okuma America Corporation seeks a skilled Field Service Technician IV to diagnose, repair, install, and upgrade Okuma CNC tool systems across North America. You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, software, and automation issues in collaboration with customers, distributors, and internal teams.

The role requires strong communication, technical writing abilities, and extensive travel to customer sites.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with CNC controls, servo systems, PLCs, automation, and mechanical fundamentals.
  • 5 years of prior machine tool experience (Okuma preferred).
  • FANUC CNC experience (preferred).
  • Okuma-Howa product knowledge (preferred).
  • Prior technical writing experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Travel to customer locations to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain Okuma machine tools.
  • Perform installations and commissioning of new machine models and automation equipment.
  • Install retrofit packages and implement upgrades or design improvements.
  • Diagnose issues involving mechanical, electrical, software, and control systems.
  • Provide technical support to customers and distributors via phone, email, and remote troubleshooting tools.
  • Document service activities with detailed reports and technical documentation.
  • Develop and maintain technical bulletins, repair procedures, and 'how-to' guides.
  • Collaborate with distributors, customers, and internal service teams to ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, safety standards, and best practices.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, enhance service delivery, and add value to customers.

In this role, you will diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, software, and automation-related issues on Okuma CNC machine tools and related equipment.As a subject matter expert, you will work directly with customers, distributors, and internal teams to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure optimal machine performance.
