Job summary

Rust Automation & Controls is seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to support customers across the Western United States. This role focuses on hands-on instrumentation service, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair while working independently in a variety of industrial environments and collaborating with internal service and management teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent (minimum requirement).
• Associate Degree in a technical field preferred.
• Field service or industrial experience preferred.
• Instrumentation training or apprenticeship experience preferred.
• Calibration and/or metrology experience preferred.
• Safety certifications or credentials preferred.
• Demonstrated basic electrical and mechanical knowledge.
• Knowledge of instrumentation systems preferred.
• Ability to use hand tools and electronic testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Daily travel to a diverse customer base across multiple industrial environments.
• Applying instrumentation knowledge to troubleshoot, repair, and service equipment.
• Successful completion and application of apprenticeship-level instrumentation training.
• Adapting to customer-specific safety, operational, and environmental requirements.
• Performing hands-on troubleshooting, calibration, and repair activities.
• Utilizing hand tools and electronic testing equipment to diagnose and resolve issues.
• Maintaining professionalism, safety compliance, and quality standards in the field.
• Regional travel within UT, CA, CO, WY, NV, ID, MT, ND, HI.
