General Field Service Technician Summary:

The Field Service Technician III-IV will provide hands-on technical and operations support of Reciprocating Compression equipment and supporting utility systems within customer facilities during commissioning, start-up, operations, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, performance testing, and troubleshooting situations as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert (SME) in all technical areas of Field Services customer support.
  • Provide technical and mechanical services support to all internal and external customers in settings such as workshops, compressor stations, process plants, etc.
  • Lead and perform all startup and commissioning tasks.
  • Be proficient at performing engine and compressor diagnostics and interpreting collected data.
  • Present results to the customer in a professional manner.
  • Must be familiar with GE Startup and Commissioning Standards and have the ability to start and operate the package.
  • Travel 200-300 days per year anywhere from 2-14 weeks at a time.
  • Work extended hours up to 10-14 hours per day including weekends/holidays, 6-7 days per week.
  • Ascend/descend ladders to examine equipment, position yourself to examine equipment including in confined spaces, move boxes weighing from 40-50 pounds, work in outdoor weather conditions, walk long distances.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in Reciprocating Compression.
  • Meets all sublevel (FS Technician I, II & III) requirements.
  • Must have the following attributes: Safety focused, Service-oriented, Business focused, A self-starter.
  • Dependable with the ability to multitask successfully.
  • Mature, with the ability to take and provide direction based on the type of work and needs of the customer/business.
  • Professional administrative and organizational skills.
  • Results oriented with a sense of urgency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and above-average interpersonal skills are required.
  • Clear, concise, and accurate service reporting is required.
  • Education - Complete training for the following:
  • Associates Degree with a technical concentration (Bachelor’s Degree recommended) or equivalent work experience (minimum).
  • Formal training in a technical certificate program.
  • Technical training in the oil and gas industry or associated industry.
  • Completion of all Reciprocating Compression Systems product training.
  • Master the Core competencies.
  • Advanced Special tooling.
  • Advanced Engine and Compressor Theory, OEM and Non-OEM.
  • Advanced Product Knowledge: Cooper Bessemer, Ajax, Superior Engine, Superior Compressor, Gemini Compressor, Clark, Waukesha, Dresser, Caterpillar.
  • Mastery of Advanced Shop Math Skills.
  • Mastery of Computer skills – Word and Excel.
  • Mastery of product documentation e.g., engineering standards, blueprints, drawings, schematics, Bill of Materials, Service bulletins, etc.
  • Advanced leadership skills.
