Job summary

BearCom in Detroit/Troy, MI is seeking a skilled Service Technician to install, diagnose, program, and service RF equipment including Motorola/Kenwood systems, DAS/BDA and related infrastructure.

The role requires 5+ years in two-way radio/wireless repair, proficiency with test equipment, and a valid driver’s license; travel and on-call duties may be required. BearCom offers comprehensive training and competitive compensation.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of service technician experience with 2-way radio/wireless systems.
• Strong knowledge of 2-way radio theory and RF propagation across bands.
• Ability to interpret schematics, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Proficiency with test equipment such as wattmeters, TDRs, FDRs, spectrum analyzers.
• Experience with DAS/BDA systems and RF deployment considerations.
• MS Office proficiency (Word/Excel/Outlook) for reporting and scheduling.
• Valid driver's license; background checks may be required.
• CET certification a plus; Journeyman level within 6 months of employment.
• Associate degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent.
• R56 Installer certification a plus; Motorola Astro 25 training helpful.

Responsibilities

• Create mid-level programming codeplugs for multi-channel radio systems.
• Install and service RF equipment including UHF/VHF, dispatch consoles, and DAS/BDA.
• Recommend equipment and hardware to meet customer needs and budgets.
• Some regional/overnight travel and on-call hours may be required.
