Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a leading wireless communications provider in Quincy, MA. This 100% onsite role supports radio systems for commercial and public-sector customers, with hands-on configuration, servicing, and on-site support to keep essential systems running reliably.

Responsibilities include installing and programming two-way radio systems, troubleshooting RF/electronic issues, and supporting regional projects.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, or programming two-way radio or wireless systems.
• Hands-on experience with Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, Harris or EF Johnson equipment.
• Understanding of RF propagation, two-way radio theory, repeaters, base stations, antennas and related components.
• Experience using RF/electronic test equipment and reading schematics/diagrams.
• Certifications in CET/NICET/ETA/OSHA preferred; may be required within six months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Install, program, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain two-way radio systems (UHF/VHF, 800/900 MHz).
• Create/modify radio programming codeplugs with multiple channels and zones.
• Troubleshoot BDA/DAS, wireless broadband, microwave, and related systems.
• Diagnose RF, networking, and electronic issues using test equipment and schematics.
• Provide onsite customer support and assist regional projects with travel and on-call duties.

Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a leading wireless communications provider in Quincy, Massachusetts. This 100% onsite, local field-based role supports radio systems for commercial and public-sector customers. The Field Service Technician II will configure and service communications equipment, resolve technical issues independently, and provide hands‑on customer support to keep essential systems running reliably.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician II Include:

• Install, program, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain two-way radio systems, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz equipment, repeaters, base stations, and dispatch consoles.
• Create and modify radio programming codeplugs, including configurations with 12+ channels, trunking, and multiple zones.
• Troubleshoot BDA/DAS, wireless broadband, microwave, and related communications systems.
• Diagnose RF, networking, and electronic issues using test equipment, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
• Provide onsite customer support, recommend appropriate equipment, and support regional projects with occasional overnight travel and on-call responsibilities.

Qualifications for the Field Service Technician II Include:

• 3+ years of experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, or programming two-way radio or wireless communications systems.
• Hands-on experience with Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, Harris, or EF Johnson equipment.
• Understanding of RF propagation, two-way radio theory, repeaters, base stations, antennas, duplexers, and multicouplers.
• Experience operating RF/electronic test equipment and interpreting schematics and technical diagrams.
• BDA/DAS experience and Motorola, ETA, NICET, CET, or OSHA certifications preferred. Candidates without applicable certifications may be considered with the expectation of obtaining them within six months of employment.
• Valid driver's license and availability for regional travel, occasional overnight travel, and on-call support.

Compensation and Benefits for the Field Service Technician II Include:

• Salary Range: $55,000-$75,000 annually, depending on experience.
