Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions seeks a Field Service Technician II for a 100% onsite role in St. Paul, Minnesota. You will service two-way radio systems, configure codeplugs, and troubleshoot RF and networking components for commercial and public-sector clients.

The position requires 3+ years’ hands-on experience with radio equipment, knowledge of RF theory, and the ability to travel regionally. Company vehicle and tuition reimbursement are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience installing, programming, maintaining, or repairing two-way radio or wireless equipment.
• Experience servicing Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, Harris, or EF Johnson gear.
• Knowledge of radio theory, RF propagation, antennas, repeaters, base stations, duplexers, multicouplers.
• Ability to read schematics/blueprints and use RF/electronic test instruments.
• BDA/DAS experience preferred; relevant certifications preferred; willingness to obtain within 6 months.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally; on-call coverage

Job description

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician II to join a leading wireless communications provider in St. Paul, Minnesota. This 100% onsite, local field-based role supports communications systems used by commercial businesses and public-sector organizations. The Field Service Technician II will deliver hands-on technical service, resolve radio system issues independently, and help customers keep their communications equipment operating reliably.

Responsibilities of the Field Service Technician II Include:

• Configure, install, and service two-way radio equipment, including UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz systems, repeaters, base stations, and dispatch consoles.
• Develop and update radio codeplugs with 12+ channels, multiple zones, and trunking configurations.
• Identify and resolve issues across BDA/DAS, microwave, wireless broadband, and supporting RF, audio, digital, and networking components.
• Use electronic diagnostic tools, schematics, and wiring diagrams to isolate equipment faults and evaluate supporting infrastructure.
• Assist customers onsite, explain technical recommendations, and support regional assignments with occasional overnight travel and on-call coverage.

Qualifications for the Field Service Technician II Include:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience installing, programming, maintaining, or repairing two-way radio or wireless communications equipment.
• Experience servicing equipment from manufacturers such as Motorola, Kenwood, ICOM, Vertex, Harris, or EF Johnson.
• Working knowledge of radio theory, RF propagation, antennas, repeaters, base stations, duplexers, and multicouplers.
• Ability to operate RF/electronic test instruments and interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• BDA/DAS experience and relevant Motorola, ETA, NICET, CET, or OSHA certifications preferred. Candidates missing applicable certifications may be considered with the expectation of obtaining them within six months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license and availability for regional travel, occasional overnight assignments, and on-call responsibilities.

Compensation and Benefits for the Field Service Technician II Include:

• Salary Range: $55,000–$70,000 annually, depending on experience.
