Job summary

Qualus is hiring a Field Service Technician II to support testing, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage electrical equipment in the shop and in the field. The role emphasizes reading schematics, wiring breakers, and documenting results using specialized software.

The position requires 1–5 years in industrial maintenance and at least 2 years in power system testing, with a valid driver’s license and ability to work outdoors and indoors.

Qualifications

• 1-5 years’ related experience in commercial and industrial maintenance.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems testing.
• Ability to follow written or oral instructions and solve problems.
• Proficient reading of manuals, rules, and drawings; strong English.
• Field work experience indoors and outdoors; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing on low and medium voltage breakers (Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, Timing tests).
• Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers/switches; refurbishment and parts replacement.
• Wire circuit breakers and read/test equipment; read schematics/wiring diagrams.
• Troubleshoot breaker controls and read time-current curves.
• Test transformers (Power Factor and TTR) and document using Power DB.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Specialized Field Services department as a Field Service Technicians II. As a Field Service Technician II you responsibilities include performing testing, maintenance and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and other electrical apparatus in the shop and in the field.

Responsibilities

• Performing testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests.

• Completing mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement.

• Wiring circuit breakers.

• Utilizing and accurately reading test equipment.

• Reading schematics and wiring drawings.

• Troubleshooting circuit breaker controls.

• Reading and plotting time-current curves.

• Testing transformers, including Power Factor and TTR.

• Accurately and consistently documenting using Power DB.

• Able to work with electrical tools and socket sets.

Minimum Qualifications

• 1-5 years’ related experience in commercial and industrial maintenance

• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems testing

• Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions of practical situations.

• Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.

• Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors

• Valid Driver’s license and good driving record

• Education:High School Diploma.

• Prefer an Associate’s degree from an accredited 2-year technical college in Electrical Power & Controls (EPC), or an Electrical Engineering Degree from an ABET accredited college, similar experience and training from the military (Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, or NAVY Seabee)
