Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Field Service Technician I in the Field Services department to perform testing, maintenance, and repair of low and medium voltage equipment in shop and field settings. This role includes 50% overnight travel and requires reading schematics, wiring, and documenting results in Power DB.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years in commercial/industrial maintenance and at least 2 years in power systems testing, with proficiency in MS Office and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ related experience in commercial and industrial maintenance.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems testing.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Valid Driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English due to safety documentation and client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Performing testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests.
• Completing mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down and refurbishment.
• Wiring circuit breakers and wiring drawings reading.
• Utilizing and accurately reading test equipment and schematics.
• Troubleshooting circuit breaker controls and plotting time-current curves.
• Testing transformers and documenting results using Power DB.
• Able to work indoors and outdoors with 50% overnight travel.

Position Overview

Power your future with Qualus in our Field Services department as a Field Service Technician I. As a Field Service Technician I your responsibilities include performing testing, maintenance and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and other electrical apparatus in the shop and in the field.

Travel: 50% overnight travel

Responsibilities

• Performing testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests
• Completing mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches, including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement
• Wiring circuit breakers
• Utilizing and accurately reading test equipment
• Reading schematics and wiring drawings
• Troubleshooting circuit breaker controls
• Reading and plotting time-current curves
• Testing transformers, including Power Factor and TTR
• Accurately and consistently documenting using Power DB
• Able to work with electrical tools and socket sets

Minimum Qualifications

• 3+ years’ related experience in commercial and industrial maintenance
• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems testing
• Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications
• Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, management ability
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
• Valid Driver’s license and good driving record
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (inclusive of reading and writing) due to the nature of safety-related materials, documentation, and interactions with clients.
