Job summary

Qualus is seeking a Field Service Technician I in the Field Services team to perform testing, maintenance and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control, and other electrical equipment in the shop and in the field.

This role requires 50% overnight travel, hands-on wiring and troubleshooting, and accurate documentation using Power DB. Candidates should have 3+ years in industrial maintenance and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of related experience in commercial and industrial maintenance.
• Minimum 2 years of industrial or commercial power systems testing.
• Reference and complete assignments as described in applicable specifications.
• Perform regular field work both indoors and outdoors.
• Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, business acumen, management ability.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Valid Driver's license and good driving record.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading and writing) due to safety-related materials and client interactions.

Responsibilities

• Perform testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests.
• Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers and switches including tear down, refurbishment and parts replacement.
• Wiring circuit breakers.
• Utilize and accurately read test equipment.
• Read schematics and wiring drawings.
• Troubleshoot circuit breaker controls.
• Read and plot time-current curves.
• Test transformers including Power Factor and TTR.
• Document accurately using Power DB.
• Work with electrical tools and socket sets.

As a Field Service Technician I your responsibilities include performing testing, maintenance and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and other electrical apparatus in the shop and in the field.
