Job summary

Burwell Material Handling is seeking a Field Service Technician who will be on the road daily, clocking in from a company-provided service vehicle and visiting customer sites across Chesapeake, Virginia.

You will service and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, aerial lifts, and other equipment from top brands, working independently with a supportive team, receiving ongoing training, and growing with a company that is expanding.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in forklift, heavy equipment, diesel, or automotive repair.
• Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Familiarity with diagnostic software and tools.
• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. occasionally and meet the physical demands of the job.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Willingness to travel within the assigned service territory.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, boom lifts, and other warehouse vehicles.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, LP/diesel engine, and electrical system issues.
• Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters and hydraulic gauges to pinpoint and fix problems.
• Perform preventative maintenance to keep customer equipment running smoothly.
• Service multiple brands including Hyundai, Bobcat, Clark, Genie, JLG, and Skyjack.
• Participate in manufacturer-certified training to stay up to date on equipment and repair techniques.
• Promote service offerings like maintenance programs, inspections, and parts.
• Inspect and maintain your service vehicle, tools, and inventory for safety and readiness.
• Support and mentor junior techs when needed.
