Harnish Group Inc. is hiring a Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Resident) in Fairbanks, Alaska. You will diagnose, repair and service heavy construction equipment, including engines, hydraulics and electrical systems, while managing job costs and coordinating with customers.

Candidate should have a high school diploma or equivalent, CAT experience preferred, and a willingness to travel. The position offers full-time hours in a dynamic, family-owned CAT dealer network with strong benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or completion of 2–4 year vocational/technical program.
• Valid driver's license required where used for potential forklift driving and operation equipment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook).
• Able to stand for up to eight hours and perform bending, stooping and kneeling.
• Willingness to travel for extended periods to support customers.
• Experience with CAT products or at a CAT dealership is ideal.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment is required.

Description

About this Position:

We have opportunities as a Heavy Equipment Field Technician (Resident) in our Service Department at our Fairbanks, Alaska Branch.

Salary Range: $63.65-67.65 per hour. Hourly offered based on skills and experience.

• Diagnosing and repairing of heavy equipment (including removing, repairing, assembling and installing).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engines, powertrains, electrical and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with CAT diagnostic equipment, CAT repair tooling, rigging and blocking equipment.
• Requires planning and organizing skills with a particular emphasis on controlling job costs.
• Investigate, analyze and identify problem in order to make recommendations for eliminating the problem.

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A high school degree (or equivalent) or a graduate of a 2-4 year vocational technical school training institution or equivalent experience is required.
• A valid driver's license will be required where it will be used for potential forklift driving and operation equipment such as hydraulic and mechanical presses, hoists, cranes, pressure washers, as examples.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook).
• Ability to stand up to eight hours per day and includes twisting, bending, squatting, sitting stooping and kneeling.
• Flexibility to travel for extended periods of time to work with our customers will be required.
• Experience working at a Caterpillar (CAT) dealership or with CAT products is ideal.
• Experience diagnosing and repairing heavy construction equipment required
