Job summary

Thompson Machinery in Tupelo, MS is hiring a Rental Field Service Technician to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of Caterpillar and allied rental equipment at customer sites and service shops. You will work largely independently from a company field service truck, reporting to the Rental Store Manager or Service Manager.

The role requires a high school diploma, 5+ years of diagnostics experience, strong problem-solving and communication skills, and willingness to travel

Qualifications

• Field service tech training or equipment service training preferred; high school diploma required.
• Five+ years' experience with diagnostics and troubleshooting on construction equipment; engine experience helpful.
• Excellent communication and customer-service orientation are essential.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret technical manuals, safety guides, and company policies.
• Monitor fluid levels and inspect equipment for leaks after service.
• Notify customers of status and any urgent concerns promptly.
• Operate equipment post-service to verify fixes and no leaks.
• Order parts for equipment as needed and research solutions.
• Travel region as assigned; occasional overtime, weekends, or holidays; up to 25% overnight travel.
