Field Service Technician — Analytical Instrumentation

Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician for the Midwest region.

This role supports Spectro analytical instruments at customer sites and via remote sessions, performing installations, training, and on-going service. The successful candidate will travel extensively in the USA, provide on-site and remote technical support, collaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams, and stay current with product knowledge through required training.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of control system electronics and high voltage power supplies.
• Experience with analytical instrumentation (ICP-OES, ED-XRF, HH-XRF, Arc/Spark-OES) is a plus.
• Hands-on field service or maintenance/repair of analytical lab instrumentation.
• Knowledge of vacuum systems, metallurgy, physics, and chemistry preferred.
• Proficient with basic hand tools.
• Strong computer skills; MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Associates degree or equivalent technical experience.

Responsibilities

• Travel extensively across USA Monday–Friday, with occasional international travel and weekends.
• Provide remote and on-site technical and applications support.
• Installations and training for customers and field service engineers.
• Install, repair, upgrade hardware and software and troubleshoot onsite.
• Prepare expense and service reports promptly.
• Collaborate with In-House Tech Support and Manufacturing for corrective actions.
• Attend training to stay current in area of support.
• Identify AI use cases to improve productivity and reduce costs.
• Maintain Spectro hardware and software training locally and internationally.
• Be located within 1 hour of major airport in the Detroit/Chicago/Cleveland/Indianapolis/Pittsburgh area.
