Job summary

Ripple Fiber is seeking a Field Service Technician to install, maintain, and repair home and business fiber equipment. This hybrid role covers Ocean Shores market, with on-site field work and remote coordination for a broad service area.

You will diagnose faults, document network changes, and guide customers through self-help steps while delivering excellent service. A valid driver’s license and flexible schedule are required.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid state driver’s license and a safe driving record.
• Experience in customer service, construction, electrical, or a technical field is a plus.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, overtime, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair Ripple Fiber equipment at customer sites.
• Troubleshoot and resolve service issues and outages.
• Document network configurations and maintain records.
• Educate customers on features of Ripple Fiber services.
• Work outdoors and in attics, basements, or crawl spaces as needed.
• Drive a company vehicle and ensure safety and cleanliness.

About the role

The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of Ripple Fiber equipment in accordance with customer requirements, and company standards. Field Service Technicians are also responsible for ensuring that customers receive the highest level of customer service.

Responsibilities

• Managing all last mile (Drop and in home and business networks) and the Access and in home and or business equipment.
• Fault Finding to resolve complaints.
• Create and maintain network documentation.
• Using monitoring network performance tools to troubleshoot problem areas.
• Assist with escalations (2nd Line support) to resolve end user issues.
• Configuring maintaining, troubleshooting, and installing Broadband services such as Wi-Fi Routers and smart home devices.
• Routing of a Fiber Optic drop cable from a termination box to a router’s location.
• In-Home and business network to connect clients.
• Assist customers in connecting their home devices to the Ripple Fiber network.
• Install and troubleshoot internet both indoors and outdoors.
• Educate customers on the features and functionality of services provided.
• Verify all services are operational and demonstrate them to customers.
• Perform installations in various environments including attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
• Work outside in all weather conditions.
• Drive a company vehicle and maintain a clean driving record.

Skills Required

• Must have a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
• Ability to operate hand tools and handheld mobile devices.
• Experience working in customer service, construction, electrical, technical or related field is a plus.
• Clean driving record.
• Work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Identify wire and cable colors.
• Qualify on pre-employment assessments.
• Be available for overtime, emergency call outs and holiday work.

Physical Demands

• Lift and move up-to 60 lbs. – some of our ladders weigh 50-60 lbs.
• At times work in small spaces or lofts (up to 28 ft.).
• Must meet ladder safety weight requirements (maximum 275 lbs. including gear) in accordance with OSHA standards.
