Your Goal
As a Field Service Technician at Cleaveland/Price, you'll be entrusted with the critical tasks of installing, repairing, and troubleshooting our products in various field environments. Your role isn't just about technical proficiency; it's also about fostering positive and successful relationships with our valued customers. When you're not on-site, you'll contribute to our manufacturing processes, providing essential production support. This includes ensuring proper training, adhering to safety protocols, and upholding quality standards for all assigned tasks.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a Field Service Technician, with additional responsibility to support laboratory operations by performing Test Lab Technician duties during non-travel periods.
- Travel required up to approximately 50% of the time, consisting of trips ranging from 1–5 days, based on business needs. Standard travel is typically Mon‑Fri; however, optional weekend travel may be needed.
- Installs, maintains, and/or repairs Cleaveland/Price products in the field.
- Routinely works near high‑voltage electricity, exercising safety and extreme caution at all times.
- Operates power equipment and machinery when installing, maintaining and/or repairing products.
- Identifies efficient solutions to successfully troubleshoot unexpected problems in the field.
- Practices and ensures the highest standards of quality and safety.
- Quickly and accurately troubleshoots varying customer issues by phone or in person.
- Professionally communicates with customers, salespersons, engineers, linesmen, and all others.
- Provides timely and accurate updates to the customer and ensures the appropriate representatives of the company (i.e. FS Supervisor) are kept informed of work needs and progress.
- Prepares and submits professional, accurate and thorough documentation.
- Provides and submits timely expense reports and travel documentation.
- Occasionally trains or oversees field contractors assisting with or learning installation to ensure work is being done safely, accurately and to industry and company standards.
- Ensures work practices are compliant with all OSHA and ISO standards.
- Follows all company and job‑specific safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Current US issued Passport holder preferred or ability to obtain company provided US Passport.
- Ability to travel to and from job sites, including overnight stays within the US and Canada.
- Ability to travel without notice to support immediate customer issues and needs.
- Familiarity with OSHA and ISO principles preferred.
- Familiarity and formal training with First Aid and other health and safety training (provided).
- Ability to obtain and maintain job‑specific training credentials for field work and work being conducted when not in the field.
- Proven expertise in mechanics, electronics, and mathematical principles, particularly algebra.
- Proficiency in interpreting and implementing schematics, drawings, and technical diagrams.
- Aptitude for recognizing and resolving product‑specific problems efficiently.
- Capacity to remain composed and professional when handling demanding customers or tasks.
- Capability to acquire and uphold operator certifications for relevant machinery, tools, and procedures.
- Adaptability to thrive in diverse work environments, including elevated positions, outdoor settings, and various weather conditions (e.g., cold, heat, rain, snow, wind).
Physical Requirements
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25lbs. of force frequently or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects that are 10lbs.
- Requires concentration, accuracy, and focused mental effort while multi‑tasking in a team environment.
- Ability to wear standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel‑toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
