Security 101 in Charleston is seeking an experienced Commercial Security Service Technician to join our team. The role focuses on servicing and troubleshooting commercial electronic security systems, especially access control and IP video surveillance, with 4–7+ years of hands-on experience.

Qualifications

• 4–7+ years of commercial electronic security service experience; strong experience with access control and IP video is required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with networked security systems and customer networks.
• Practical knowledge of TCP/IP, LANs, internet technologies, and network diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently and resolve technical issues to the customer's satisfaction.

Responsibilities

• Service, troubleshoot, program, test, and commission enterprise security systems with minimal supervision.
• Troubleshoot and program networked access control and IP video systems.
• Service commercial intrusion alarm, visitor management, and IoT-connected systems.
• Diagnose LAN/network issues using tools such as Wireshark and other network scanning tools.
• Support customers through remote diagnostics and on-site service.
• Work with manufacturer SDKs and APIs for system integration.

$35–$40 per hour, non-exempt, based on experience, technical skills, and product knowledge.

What You'll Do

• Service, troubleshoot, program, test, and commission enterprise security systems with minimal supervision.

What We're Looking For

• 4–7+ years of commercial electronic security service experience; strong experience with access control and IP video is required.
• Strong troubleshooting skills with networked security systems and customer networks.
• Practical knowledge of TCP/IP, LANs, internet technologies, and network diagnostics.
• Ability to work independently and resolve technical issues to the customer's satisfaction.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• High school diploma/GED required.
• Technical school or military training in electronics or communications is preferred.

Experience or certification with systems such as C CURE 9000, LenelS2, Genetec, Avigilon, OpenPath, Hanwha, Genetec, Exacq, Axis, Milestone, IPConfigure, or similar platforms is a plus. Experience with ASSA ABLOY, Schlage, Von Duprin, and other electromechanical locking hardware is also valuable.

Physical & Other Requirements

Must be able to work in office and outdoor environments, climb ladders, operate boom/scissor lifts, and lift up to 50 lbs. Candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screening.
