Job summary

Ponder Environmental Services, Inc. is seeking a Field Service Technician to support hazardous and non-hazardous cleanup, confined space work, and industrial maintenance. You will be on the front lines performing cleanup, equipment operation, and site setup across varied locations and industries.

Responsibilities include heavy lifting, tank cleaning, and assisting with containment, safety, and documentation. Travel and overtime may be required, with a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years of related laborer experience in hazardous waste cleanup or similar.
• Familiarity with respiratory protection and chemical hazards.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy physical labor, including lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Perform tank cleaning, hazardous waste cleanup, confined space entry/rescue, and industrial maintenance tasks.
• Operate industrial equipment (pressure washers, vacuum trucks, water blasters, pumps, compressors, forklifts).
• Assist with job site setup including containments, barricading, trailer chocking, and equipment staging.
• Support emergency and scheduled cleanups with packaging waste, decontamination, chemical transferring and handling.
• Conduct vehicle and equipment inspections and perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Follow safety protocols, wear PPE, and complete training/documentation.
• Work in varying weather conditions and temperatures, indoors and outdoors.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and communicate with supervisors and team members.
• Willing to travel and work overtime.

As a Field ServiceTechnician, you'll be on the front lines of confined space entry and rescue, hazardous and non-hazardous cleanup, tank and equipment maintenance, and much more. What You’ll Do

• Perform heavy physical labor including lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Perform tank cleaning, hazardous waste cleanup, confined space entry/rescue, and industrial maintenance tasks.
• Operate a wide range of industrial equipment: pressure washers, vacuum trucks, water blasters, pumps, compressors, forklifts, and more.
• Assist with job site setup including containments, barricading, trailer chocking, and equipment staging.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1- 3 years of related experience performing general laborer duties related to the clean-up of hazardous waste sites.
• Must have familiarization and understanding of use and application of various types of respiratory protection and chemical hazards.
• Have working knowledge of commonly used field equipment and gear.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environments
• Basic computer and smartphone app skills for timekeeping and communication
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid California Driver’s License and a clean DMV required.
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER with current 8-hour refresher
• HAZMAT Certification
• Confined Space Entry & Rescue
• First AID/CPR Certification
• Forklift Certification and ability to operate manlifts, reach lifts, and skid steers (preferred)
• TWIC Card preferred
