Job summary

Ponder Environmental Services is seeking a Field Service Technician to be on the front lines of heavy cleanup, confined space entry, and equipment maintenance. The role involves traveling to various locations, operating heavy gear, and adhering to safety protocols in a 24/7 environment.

You'll perform tank cleaning, hazardous waste cleanup, and support emergency responses while staying compliant with safety standards and documentation.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1–3 years of related labor experience with hazardous waste cleanup.
• Familiarity with respiratory protection and chemical hazards.
• Working knowledge of field equipment and gear.
• Strong problem-solving in fast-paced, physically demanding environments.
• Basic computer and smartphone app skills for timekeeping and communication.
• Commitment to safety, teamwork and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy physical labor including lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Perform tank cleaning, hazardous waste cleanup, confined space entry/rescue, and maintenance tasks.
• Operate industrial equipment: pressure washers, vacuum trucks, water blasters, pumps, compressors, forklifts, and more.
• Assist with job site setup including containments, barricading, trailer chocking, and equipment staging.
• Support emergency and scheduled cleanups by packaging waste, decontaminating areas, chemical transferring and handling.
• Conduct thorough vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Follow all safety protocols, wear PPE, and complete training and documentation.
• Work in varying weather conditions indoors and outdoors.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and communicate with supervisors and team members.
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

What You’ll Do

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1- 3 years of related experience performing general laborer duties related to the clean-up of hazardous waste sites.
• Must have familiarization and understanding of use and application of various types of respiratory protection and chemical hazards.
• Have working knowledge of commonly used field equipment and gear.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environments
• Basic computer and smartphone app skills for timekeeping and communication
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid California Driver’s License and a clean DMV required.
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER with current 8-hour refresher
• HAZMAT Certification
• Confined Space Entry & Rescue
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Forklift Certification and ability to operate manlifts, reach lifts, and skid steers (preferred)
• TWIC Card preferred
