Job summary

Ponder Environmental Services is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform heavy labor, tank cleaning, and hazardous waste cleanup across multiple sites. You will operate a range of industrial equipment and support emergency and scheduled cleanups, while adhering to safety protocols and documentation requirements.

The role requires 1–3 years of related experience, familiarity with respiratory protection, and a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of related labor experience on hazardous waste site cleanups.
• Familiar with respiratory protection and chemical hazards.
• Working knowledge of field equipment and gear.
• Strong problem-solving skills for fast-paced, physically demanding environments.
• Basic timekeeping and communication app skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform heavy physical labor and assist with site setup and containments.
• Conduct tank cleaning, hazardous waste cleanup, confined space entry/rescue, and maintenance tasks.
• Operate equipment including pressure washers, vacuum trucks, and forklifts.
• Assist with emergency and scheduled cleanups; decontaminate areas and transfer chemicals.
• Inspect vehicles and equipment; perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Adhere to safety protocols, wear PPE, and complete training and documentation.
• Travel and overtime as required.
• Attend monthly safety meetings and coordinate with supervisors.

About the job

As a Field ServiceTechnician, you'll be on the front lines of confined space entry and rescue, hazardous and non-hazardous cleanup, tank and equipment maintenance, and much more. What You’ll Do

• Perform heavy physical labor including lifting and moving heavy objects.
• Perform tank cleaning, hazardous waste cleanup, confined space entry/rescue, and industrial maintenance tasks.
• Operate a wide range of industrial equipment: pressure washers, vacuum trucks, water blasters, pumps, compressors, forklifts, and more.
• Assist with job site setup including containments, barricading, trailer chocking, and equipment staging.
• Support emergency and scheduled cleanups by
  • Packaging waste
  • Decontaminating areas
  • Chemical transferring and handling.
• Conduct thorough vehicle and equipment inspections
• Perform routine cleaning and maintenance.
• Follow all safety protocols, wear appropriate PPE, and complete all required training and documentation.
• Work in various weather conditions and temperatures indoor and outdoor
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and maintain good communication with supervisors and team members.
• Must be willing to travel and work overtime.

What You Bring

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1- 3 years of related experience performing general laborer duties related to the clean-up of hazardous waste sites.
• Must have familiarization and understanding of use and application of various types of respiratory protection and chemical hazards.
• Have working knowledge of commonly used field equipment and gear.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environments
• Basic computer and smartphone app skills for timekeeping and communication
• Commitment to safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Valid California Driver’s License and a clean DMV required.
• 40-Hour HAZWOPER with current 8-hour refresher
• HAZMAT Certification
• Confined Space Entry & Rescue
• First Aid/CPR Certification
• Forklift Certification and ability to operate manlifts, reach lifts, and skid steers (preferred)
• TWIC Card preferred
