Job summary

Ohio CAT seeks a Field Service Technician to travel to customer sites and perform field service on heavy equipment, including drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems. You will work from a service truck in varying environments and must be willing to learn new skills and technical information related to the job.

Requirements include a high school diploma, valid CDL with acceptable driving record, and hands-on experience with heavy equipment service.

• High school diploma required; technical field education a plus.
• Experience with construction or heavy equipment service and repair required.
• Valid CDL with acceptable driving record (4 or fewer points).

Responsibilities

• Traveled field service to Ohio CAT and customer locations to troubleshoot and repair heavy equipment.
• Repair drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems, and perform standard maintenance.
• Work from a service truck; follow safety and manufacturer procedures; learn new skills.

Job Summary

This position will require frequent travel to Ohio CAT and customer locations. A willingness to study and learn new skills and technical information related to the job is required. Field Servicemen troubleshoot and safely repair general heavy equipment drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems, and standard machine repairs. You will work from an Ohio CAT service truck in the natural elements.

Competencies

• General technical service skills, mechanical aptitude, or experience with construction or heavy equipment, and strong DC electrical and machine electronic systems knowledgeare required.
• Must demonstrate the ability to follow technical material and apply processes and procedures as necessary to complete manufacturers’ updates.
• Must be organized, self-motivated, and able to work without direct supervision—excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Strong computer and software skills are required.

Job Qualifications

• High school graduate minimum, College and continued education in a technical field are a plus. Experience related to construction or heavy equipment service and repair is required.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record following Ohio CAT standards (4 or fewer moving violation points).

Physical Requirements

Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling
Standing/Sitting Up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
Dexterity Normal
Repetitive Motions: Frequent movements requiring the use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
