Job summary

MKH Search is seeking an experienced HVAC Service Technician to join a growing mechanical service team serving commercial and industrial clients across the Southeast. You will diagnose, service, maintain and repair a wide range of HVAC systems and manage field service calls.

This hands-on role requires strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, the ability to read schematics, and EPA 608 certification. You’ll work independently with field support and on-call rotation.

Qualifications

• 3-7+ years of commercial/industrial HVAC service experience.
• Strong refrigeration, airflow, electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification required.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and sequences of operation.
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
• Able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs and work on rooftops/outdoors.
• High school diploma or GED; tech school/apprenticeship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair commercial/industrial HVAC equipment.
• Service rooftops, split and packaged systems, chillers, boilers, hydronic and VAV systems.
• Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting on motors, relays, VFDs, and controls.
• Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and inspections.
• Identify deficiencies and recommend repairs or replacements.
• Troubleshoot and adjust HVAC control systems.
• Read wiring diagrams, schematics, and sequences of operation.
• Calibrate sensors, thermostats, and safety devices.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to customers.
• Complete service tickets and digital documentation accurately.
• Coordinate with dispatch, service management, and parts teams.
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and jobsite.
• Follow OSHA safety requirements including PPE and LOTO procedures.
• Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours/emergency service.

The Role:

The HVAC Service Technician will be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, maintaining, and repairing commercial and industrial HVAC systems.

You'll be trusted to manage assigned service calls, identify equipment issues, recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions, and ensure customers receive a high level of service.

This is a hands‑on field position suited to an experienced technician who is confident troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical HVAC systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose and repair commercial and industrial HVAC equipment
• Service rooftop units, split and packaged systems, chillers, boilers, hydronic systems, make‑up air units, and VAV systems
• Perform advanced electrical troubleshooting across motors, contactors, relays, VFDs, and control circuits
• Complete scheduled preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
• Identify equipment deficiencies and recommend repair or replacement options
• Troubleshoot and adjust HVAC control systems
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment sequences of operation
• Calibrate sensors, thermostats, and safety devices
• Communicate professionally with customers regarding findings and repair recommendations
• Complete service tickets, inspection forms, and digital documentation accurately
• Work closely with dispatch, service management, and parts teams
• Maintain a clean, organized service vehicle and jobsite
• Follow all company and OSHA safety requirements, including proper PPE and lockout/tagout procedures
• Participate in a scheduled on‑call rotation for after‑hours and emergency service

Qualifications:

• 3-7+ years of commercial or industrial HVAC service experience
• Strong refrigeration, airflow, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• EPA Section 608 Universal Certification
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record
• Experience troubleshooting and adjusting HVAC control systems
• Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics, and equipment sequences of operation
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Comfortable climbing ladders and working on rooftops
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in variable weather conditions
• High school diploma or GED; technical school or apprenticeship preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with chillers, boilers, or large‑tonnage systems
• Manufacturer training and certifications
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
