Job summary

Engert Mechanical in Knoxville seeks a senior HVAC Technician to diagnose, service and repair commercial systems. You will work independently in the field and mentor junior technicians while ensuring high-quality solutions for critical operations.

You’ll handle complex equipment including RTU, boilers, chillers, and controls, perform start-ups and testing, and communicate with customers and project teams. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial HVAC experience.
• EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
• Ability to mentor junior technicians and manage projects.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
• Valid driver’s license with clean record.

Responsibilities

• Independently troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC issues including RTU, controls, chillers, boilers, and multi-zone systems.
• Perform system start-ups, commissioning, and performance testing.
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues with precision.
• Interface directly with customers, building engineers, and project teams.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, codes, and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and recommendations.

Position Overview

The HVAC Technician is a senior-level responsible for advanced diagnostics, service, and repair of commercial HVAC systems. This position operates independently in the field, supports and mentors junior technicians, and serves as a trusted resource for customers. You’ll work on complex systems across a variety of commercial environments, delivering high-quality solutions that keep critical operations running.

Key Responsibilities:

• Independently troubleshoot and repair complex HVAC issues including RTU, controls, chillers, boilers, and multi-zone systems.
• Perform system start-ups, commissioning, and performance testing
• Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control system issues with precision
• Interface directly with customers, building engineers, and project teams
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior technicians and apprentices
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards, codes, and company procedures
• Maintain accurate service documentation, reports, and recommendations
