Job summary

YER USA is seeking an experienced Traveling Commissioning & Field Service Technician to join our Chicago-based technical service team. You will install, commission, test, troubleshoot, and provide technical support for advanced flexographic and hybrid printing machines in the US market.

Ideal candidates have hands-on experience as Field Service/Commissioning/Test Technicians within OEMs or printing machinery firms, or as Printing Operators/Engineers with flexographic or hybrid printing tech.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, Commissioning Technician, Test Technician, or similar role within printing machinery.
• Experience with flexographic or hybrid printing technologies is a plus.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills applied on-site at customer locations.
• Ability to read technical documentation and equipment manuals.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Perform machine installation, commissioning, testing, and start-up activities at customer sites.
• Execute Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) to ensure contractual and operational compliance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electromechanical, and print-process issues to minimize downtime.
• Analyze defects and processes to identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Act as primary technical interface with customers during installation, commissioning, and after-sales support.
• Collaborate with headquarters engineers to resolve complex technical challenges.
• Provide remote technical support using digital diagnostics tools.
• Train customers on operation, maintenance, and best printing practices.
• Prepare technical service reports and document interventions and visits.
• Ensure adherence to quality, safety, and customer service standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Commissioning & Field Service Technician to join our technical service team in our branch located in Chicago. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and technical support of advanced flexographic and hybrid printing machines, with a strong focus on the United States market.

The ideal candidate has solid hands-on experience in a similar role within OEMs or companies operating in the printing machinery industry. Alternatively, we will consider candidates with extensive experience as Printing Operators/Engineers working with flexographic or hybrid printing technologies.

This position requires a highly service-oriented professional capable of independently diagnosing and resolving mechanical and printing process issues while collaborating with headquarters' engineering specialists on more complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform machine installation, commissioning, testing, and start-up activities at customer sites.
• Execute and support Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), ensuring machines meet contractual and operational requirements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electromechanical, and print-process issues to minimize downtime and optimize machine performance.
• Analyze printing defects and process-related problems, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective actions.
• Act as the primary technical interface with customers during installation, commissioning, and after-sales support activities.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical specialists at headquarters to resolve complex machine or process-related issues.
• Deliver remote technical support and troubleshooting assistance using digital communication and diagnostic tools.
• Provide customer training on machine operation, maintenance, and best printing practices.
• Prepare technical service reports and maintain accurate documentation of interventions and customer visits.
• Ensure compliance with company quality, safety, and customer service standards.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Field Service Technician, Commissioning Technician, Test Technician, or similar role within the printing machinery industry.
• Alternatively, significant experience as a Printer/Printing Engineer in manufacturing environments utilizing flexographic or hybrid printing technologies.
• Strong understanding of flexographic printing processes and related production challenges.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve common mechanical issues and process-related printing problems independently.
• Experience supporting machine installation, commissioning, and SAT activities.
• Good technical problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage technical issues directly at customer sites.
• Proficiency in reading technical documentation, machine manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
• Good negotiation and communication skills and customer-oriented mindset.
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with narrow-web, label, packaging, or hybrid printing equipment.
• Knowledge of automation, electrical systems, drives, or industrial controls.
• Experience providing remote diagnostics and technical support.
• Previous international field service experience.

Travel Requirements

• Availability to travel approximately 60% of working time.
• Frequent international travel, primarily within the United States.
• Flexibility to travel on short notice when required by customer needs and project schedules.

Reporting Line
