Job description

Cornerstone Building Brands is seeking a Field Service Technician to perform in-field warranty and service repairs and adjustments on window and door products. Provide technical feedback on product performance and deficiencies. Communicate with dealers on the status of specific service issues, serving as a liaison between Insulate and the end-user. This position requires independent judgment, problem-solving ability, keen observation skills, and effective responsibility-taking. Prompt, craftsman-like repairs or product replacements are essential for customer satisfaction. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are vital. Internal contacts include all levels of employees and Territory Managers; external contacts are homeowners, contractors, and distributors. This position is based in the Sacramento, CA area, and requires glass glazing experience.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Complete all service requests within the assigned territory.
2. Perform field repairs, glass replacements, operational adjustments, and repairs.
3. Conduct field evaluations and inspections.
4. Document work performed for each service call.
5. Review daily schedule with the Service Scheduler for routing efficiency and confirm appointments with customers.
6. Provide feedback on service requests to the service scheduler.
7. Document requirements for follow-up appointments and assist in scheduling them.
8. Offer technical feedback and document operational and design deficiencies in the field.
9. Provide recommendations for modifications.
10. Operate a 1-ton truck courteously and safely.
11. Maintain parts inventory in the assigned service vehicle and restock as needed.

EQUIPMENT PROVIDED

• Tools, PPE, mobile phone, assorted hand and power tools, 1-ton box van, glass cup, steel-toed safety shoes, uniform shirts, safety gloves and glasses.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge and skill in field service repairs and services.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in window and door repair and replacement.
• Knowledge of general construction or building product installation.
• Knowledge of fenestration products and manufacturing technologies.
• Experience in glass glazing.
• Ability to handle conversations with upset homeowners, contractors, or distributors calmly.
• Problem-solving skills, data collection, and analytical ability.
• Ability to develop rapport and work independently.
• Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; 1-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
