Job summary

Otovo is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to join our renewable energy team in Austin. You will service, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar systems, storage solutions, and generators, delivering exceptional customer service.

This hands‑on electrical role requires NEC/AHJ knowledge, ability to read schematics, and local travel. You will work outdoors in varying weather, maintain service records, and represent Otovo professionally at customer sites.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• 4+ years electrical experience.
• Valid driver's license with clean record.
• Strong NEC/AHJ/utility interconnection knowledge.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Experience with electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Lifts up to 50 pounds; climbs ladders; works outdoors.
• Willingness to travel locally and overtime.
• State electrical license or certification (Journeyman/Wireman).
• Nice-to-have: Solar PV installation experience.
• Nice-to-have: Battery storage experience.
• Nice-to-have: Generator service experience.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators.
• Perform preventive maintenance and tests.
• Commission new systems and upgrades per NEC/AHJ.
• Use multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging.
• Maintain accurate service records and reports.
• Follow PPE, lockout/tagout, and fall protection procedures.
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty work.
• Communicate system status and recommendations to homeowners.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair solar panels, inverters, batteries, generators, and related equipment
• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments
• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation
• Follow all safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirements
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty‑related repairs as needed
• Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendations
• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of NEC, AHJ, and utility interconnection requirements
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to climb ladders and work on rooftops
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed
• State‑required electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent)
