Sammons Warehouse Solutions in Austin, TX is seeking a Service Technician I to diagnose, maintain, and repair material handling equipment, with safety and quality at the core.

You will work on engines, motors, hydraulics, transmissions, and lifting systems, perform preventive maintenance, and document service activities while advancing your technical skills. This on-site position offers competitive pay, bonuses, ESOP, and strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and at least 1 year of forklift repair or related mechanical experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills with knowledge of material handling equipment.
• Certification on at least 50% of the company product line is expected.
• Customer-first mindset with clear communication and a willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild material handling equipment and its major systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, failure analysis, and basic welding.
• Prioritize safety, maintain clean work areas, and follow OSHA and company requirements.
• Maintain parts and supplies, complete service documentation, and pursue ongoing training.

What You’ll Do

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild material handling equipment and its major systems, including engines, electric motors, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, steering, electrical, and lifting systems.

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, failure analysis, and basic welding to keep equipment operating safely and according to manufacturer specifications.

• Put safety first on every job by properly securing equipment, following OSHA, DOT, and company requirements, maintaining a clean work area, and actively participating in our Safety First culture.

• Take care of our customers and your work by maintaining needed parts and supplies, completing service documentation on time, and continuing your technical training and certifications.

What You’ll Bring

• High school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year of forklift repair or related mechanical experience.

• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and working knowledge of material handling equipment; certification on at least 50% of the company product line is expected.

• A customer-first mindset with clear communication skills, dependable follow-through, and a willingness to learn and grow.

• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 75 pounds, as well as participating in an on-call schedule as needed. Mechanical/trade school and Hyster-Yale technician certifications are preferred.
