Job summary

Sammons Industrial is seeking a Service Technician I to diagnose, maintain, and repair material handling equipment on site. You will work on a wide range of machinery, focusing on safety, quality, and customer care while growing technical skills and certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, a valid driver’s license, and at least 1 year of forklift repair or related mechanical experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and working knowledge of material handling equipment; certification on at least 50% of the company product line is expected.
• Customer-first mindset with clear communication, dependable follow-through, and a willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild material handling equipment and its major systems, including engines, electric motors, hydraulics, transmissions, brakes, steering, electrical, and lifting systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, failure analysis, and basic welding to keep equipment operating safely and according to manufacturer specifications.
• Put safety first on every job by properly securing equipment, following OSHA, DOT, and company requirements, maintaining a clean work area, and actively participating in our Safety First culture.
• Take care of our customers and your work by maintaining needed parts and supplies, completing service documentation on time, and continuing your technical training and certifications.

What You’ll Bring

• A customer-first mindset with clear communication skills, dependable follow-through, and a willingness to learn and grow.
• Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including frequent standing, walking, bending, twisting, and lifting up to 75 pounds, as well as participating in an on-call schedule as needed.
• Mechanical/trade school and Hyster-Yale technician certifications are preferred.
