Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC in Sumter, SC is seeking a Field Technician to terminate and restore water service, and to install theft deterrent devices. You’ll gather updated account details prior to restoration and handle urgent restorations as needed.

You’ll work outdoors in all weather, use handheld tech (GPS, PDA, phones), and follow safety and regulatory guidelines. A HS diploma and 2+ years of customer service are preferred; valid driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Meter reading knowledge or related field experience.
• Able to use handheld devices (phones, GPS, PDA, cameras).
• Interest in construction/trades and related fields.
• Self-motivated with minimal supervision.
• Good verbal and written communication.
• Willing to work outdoors in all weather.
• Willing to join the union and pay dues.

Responsibilities

• Terminate and restore water service per schedule.
• Install theft deterrent devices upon termination.
• Obtain/update account information before restoring service.
• Perform emergency restorations as required.
• Work in accordance with PUC Chapter 56 regulations.
• Prepare and deliver 72/48 hour notices for non-payment.
• Meet standards within time frames set by supervision.
• Prioritize work and coordinate with customers and teams.
• Adhere to all company policies, safety policies, and OSHA guidelines.
