Job summary

Radiant Systems Inc in Albany, NY is seeking a Field Service/Start-Up Engineer to perform on-site service and startup support for semiconductor processing equipment. This 12-month contract role requires troubleshooting, parts installation, and coordinating with customers and peers to minimize downtime.

You will travel for training and support at sites across the Northeast, and must be able to work independently in a fast-paced, clean-room environment.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in electronics or engineering; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 0+ year experience in maintenance, repair and troubleshooting of semiconductor capital equipment.
• Excellent customer interface skills required.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to use appropriate tools.
• Thorough understanding of maintenance/repair/installation of company equipment and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs on-site service and repair of semiconductor processing equipment.
• Troubleshoots equipment problems and maintains records as required.
• Coordinates activities with peers, supervisors and customers to minimize downtime.
• Orders and installs parts.
• Responds to emergency service calls as required.
• Instructs customer operating technicians on system operation and maintenance.
• Performs upgrades and modifications to equipment as needed.
• Maintains equipment/tools training and reference materials.
• Maintains upkeep and security of company property including vehicles and tools.
• Adheres to standards of conduct to maintain credentials for customer sites.

Duration: 12 Months Contract

Must Have Skills:

• Prior semiconductor industry experience strongly preferred
• Must possess excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Looking for a self-motivated, proactive individual who can work independently and take initiative
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Word
• Willingness to travel for training and provide support at additional sites throughout the Northeast region as needed
• Position is onsite and will support operations at NY CREATES/ IBM, and GlobalFoundries
• Candidate should be adaptable, eager to learn, and capable of working effectively in a fast-paced technical environment

Responsibilities:

• Remain current on equipment/tools through appropriate training, manuals, factory periodicals, and other relevant materials.
• Incumbents are responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and security of company property including vehicles, tools, etc.
• Employees must also maintain standards of conduct acceptable to both TEA and customers to maintain credentials for being on customer site(s)

• Thorough understanding of technical issues involving the maintenance, repair and/or installation of company equipment and company procedures are required

Physical Demands and Work Conditions The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Job duties are often performed in confined areas in a clean room environment, in awkward positions and/or in high places. Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and ability to lift/carry objects up to 50 pounds is required. May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing. May require the use of Personal Protective Equipment. Duties also include application of proper industry safety procedures when working with dangerous elements or conditions such as chemicals, electric currents or high voltage, moving mechanical parts, radiation, etc. Occasional travel to TEL factories, training facilities and customer locations may be required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. A clean room garment may be required to be worn for lengthy periods of time. PPE is Required including, not limited to, consistent wearing of safety glasses, safety shoes and a bump cap. Job duties may require walking up to and in excess of 10,000 steps and walking up and down multiple flights of stairs per shift (12 hours). Occasional overnight travel to TEL factory, training facilities and customer locations may be required.
