Job summary

Cummins Inc. in Augusta, GA is seeking a Field Service Power Generation Technician/Mechanic to diagnose and complete less complex generator repairs at customer sites. You will repair generators and components, engage with customers professionally, and perform maintenance using diagnostic tools while keeping detailed service records.

This on-site role requires a valid license, DOT readiness, and 3+ years of driving. Local travel with occasional overnight trips; relocation package available.

Qualifications

• Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities.
• High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience.
• Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products.
• Basic Diesel Engine experience.
• Proficient troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components.
• Able to perform repairs on ATS systems and able to perform commissioning on a new ATS installation.

Competencies:

The Remote Power Generation Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and startup of diesel and natural gas generator systems, transfer switches, and related power generation equipment throughout the Augusta, GA region. This field-based position operates from a home office with support from the Columbia, SC branch and requires independent management of customer sites, service schedules, and technical repairs. The technician serves commercial, industrial, healthcare, government, and mission-critical customers by performing preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, diagnostics, and commissioning activities while ensuring safety, quality, and customer satisfaction. Frequent local travel is required, with occasional overnight travel based on customer needs.

• This role requires applicant to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical
• 3 years driving experience
• This role is subject to Department of Transportation (DOT) driving regulations including Hours of Service and Electronic Log Booking Device use

• Customer service experience
