Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic B in Santa Ana, CA to maintain and repair the company fleet at customer sites. You will diagnose problems, perform preventative maintenance, and replace parts to keep equipment operating reliably.

The role requires reading schematics and manuals, using a range of hand and power tools, and being on call to support operations. A valid driver’s license and strong safety mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• Ability to read detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
• Ownership of sufficient hand and air/electric tools
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics
• Ability to be on call to support operational needs
• A valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

• Maintain a consistent schedule of preventative maintenance on Herc-owned fleet at long-term customer job sites.
• Oversee and conduct oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements, and assorted services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition at the job site.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts to return equipment to a safely functioning state.
• Educate customers on proper use of equipment to avoid future breakdowns.
• Analyze wear and tear to ensure proper usage until next visit.
• Adhere to safety guidelines at active job sites and keep work areas clean and organized.
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs.
• Follow all company procedures and protocols and build positive customer relationships.
• Perform additional duties as assigned
