Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic B to perform preventative maintenance and repairs on our fleet at customer job sites. You will diagnose issues, replace parts, and ensure equipment remains safe and functional between visits.

You will communicate with customers, follow safety protocols, and document service logs. A valid driver’s license and willingness to be on-call are required, with opportunities across North America.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to understand detailed schematics, manuals and warnings.
• Own a selection of hand and air/electric tools.
• Operate and test equipment like boom lifts, forklifts, generators.
• On-call availability to support operations.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Herc fleet at customer job sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire and battery work, hose repairs.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to keep it operational on site.
• Troubleshoot fuel, electrical, hydraulic, and propane systems.
• Replace parts and bring equipment to safe working condition.
• Educate customers on proper equipment use to prevent breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean and organized jobsite and complete service logs.
• Build positive relationships with customers and follow company procedures.
