Job summary

Turner Mining Group is seeking a Field Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain mobile and support equipment in active field environments. You will work with hydraulic and electrical systems, read service manuals, and perform welding as needed.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with drilling rig systems and high-pressure hydraulics.
  • Familiarity with rig power, hydraulic circuits, and electrically controlled mobile equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting large-frame mobile equipment used in drilling or material movement.
  • Experience working on OTR trucks, engines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Read service manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams.
  • Dismantle, repair, reassemble components in field conditions.
  • Perform welding and light fabrication as needed.
  • Maintain accurate service records and communicate status to leadership.
  • Adhere to safety policies and jobsite best practices.
  • Travel to remote locations as required.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and test equipment to identify failures.
  • Repair or replace damaged components to maintain uptime.
  • Complete inspections and routine servicing.

Job description

Position Overview
  • The Field Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of mobile and support equipment in active field environments. This role places a strong emphasis on hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and powertrain troubleshooting, supporting uptime across fleet and jobsite equipment.
  • Regular travel is required, including work at remote locations.
  • Typical schedules include 10x4, 9x5, or 8x6, with alternative schedules considered based on operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety policies, procedures, and jobsite best practices
  • Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems on mobile and support equipment
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults including wiring, sensors, switches, charging systems, starters, and control circuits
  • Utilize diagnostic tools, software, and test equipment to identify failures and determine corrective action
  • Repair or replace damaged, worn, or failed components in field conditions
  • Perform inspections, routine servicing, and documentation of completed work
  • Dismantle, repair, and reassemble components using hand tools, hoists, and service equipment
  • Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation
  • Perform welding and light fabrication as needed to complete repairs or modificationsMaintain accurate service records and communicate equipment status to operations and leadership
  • Exhibit a strong work ethic, adaptability, and a willingness to learn new systems and equipment
Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience with drilling rig systems, high-pressure hydraulics, and mobile haul equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with rig power, hydraulic circuits, and electrically controlled mobile equipment is a plus
  • Experience troubleshooting large-frame mobile equipment used in drilling or material movement preferred
  • Experience working on OTR trucks, engines, and auxiliary equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot complex failures independently
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Ability and willingness to travel, work outdoors, and perform duties in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work effectively under time constraints and shifting priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate information and determine effective solutions
  • Ability to maintain a professional, team-oriented attitude in demanding conditions
