Qualifications

• Technical degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of electrical, controls, or process control experience.
• Hands-on experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell control systems (at least one).
• Willing to travel 60%+ of the year, including multi-week stays, and some international travel.
• Strong communication and customer relations skills.
• Comfortable with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Provide automation and DCS controls service on new and existing paper machine equipment at customer sites, and remotely when possible
• Handle installation, check-out, commissioning, start-up, optimization, and emergency service calls
• Troubleshoot system faults on control loops and operator interface screens
• Program control loops and displays in Siemens and Rockwell environments, and make onsite PLC changes
• Complete small system upgrades and small engineering tasks on new or modified loops
• Keep accurate records of job progress, delays, deliveries, and customer scope changes
• Write service reports covering work completed, changes made, faults found, and recommendations
• Train customer staff to maintain and troubleshoot their automation equipment
• Run site audits to find process improvement opportunities
• Review spare parts needs with customers and recommend parts and services

Field Service Expert, Automation Responsibilities:

Field Service Expert, Automation Qualifications:

• Technical degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Technology, Controls Engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of electrical, controls, or process control experience
• Hands‑on experience with Siemens and/or Rockwell control systems (at least one is required)
• Solid electrical fundamentals, including connections, commissioning, and system checks
• Basic understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
• Willing to travel 60%+ of the year, including multi‑week site stays, occasional short-notice trips, and some international travel
• Strong communication and customer relations skills
• Comfortable with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds, stand, kneel, crouch, and wear PPE in plant environments

Field Service Expert, Automation Preferred Qualifications:

• Pulp and paper industry experience, especially paper machines or pulpers
• Bilingual in English and Spanish

Field Service Expert, Automation Details:

• Location: Remote (U.S.), Wisconsin preferred
• Schedule: Remote home base with 60%+ travel; site visits typically run about two weeks at a time
• Pay Rate: $48 to $55/hour, overtime eligible
