Job summary

Metergy is seeking a technically skilled engineer to support field service, project management, and customer operations in metering systems and related technologies. You will investigate complex issues, perform root-cause analysis, train teams, and create detailed documentation for operations.

You will review drawings, analyze data, and advise on sub-metering design across residential, commercial, and mixed-use properties. Occasional travel is required to NYC and Philadelphia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to document complex concepts clearly.
• Experience reviewing and creating technical drawings and documentation.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for Field Service, Project Management, Customer Support, and other internal teams on metering systems, communications, and field operations.
• Investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Provide technical training for field technicians and internal stakeholders on new products and processes.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and training materials.
• Manage and prioritize technical support requests via ticketing system with timely communication.
• Evaluate new products and third-party solutions to support continuous improvement.
• Analyze electrical and mechanical drawings to advise on sub-metering system design for utilities in property types.
• Develop and maintain technical drawings and installation documentation using AutoCAD for projects.
• Analyze metering data to identify trends and support troubleshooting and decision-making.
• Provide expertise on AMR equipment to improve operations and procedures.
• Identify and deliver continuous improvement opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical resource for Field Service, Project Management, Customer Support, and other internal teams, providing expertise on metering systems, communication technologies, and field operations.
• Investigate complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to resolve product, process, and operational challenges.
• Provide technical training for field technicians and other internal stakeholders to support new products, technologies, and operational processes.
• Develop and maintain technical documentation to support field operations, including standard operating procedures, work instructions, troubleshooting guides, and training materials
• Manage and prioritize technical support requests through Metergy's ticketing system, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
• Evaluate new products, technologies, and third-party products and solutions to support continuous improvement and business objectives.
• Analyze electrical and mechanical drawings to provide guidance and support on sub-metering system design principles for electricity, water, gas and thermal services in residential, commercial and mixed-use properties
• Develop and maintain technical drawings, schematics, and installation documentation using AutoCAD to support new construction, retrofit, and operational initiatives.
• Analyze metering and utility data to identify trends, investigate anomalies, and support troubleshooting and operational decision-making.
• Provide technical expertise on communication and AMR (Automated Meter Reading) equipment to improve business operations and troubleshooting procedures
• Identify and deliver on continuous improvement opportunities

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in multi-family and commercial buildings.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Experience reviewing and creating technical drawings and documentation
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and Auto CAD
• Strong organization and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Experience with technical data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities independently.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, training, troubleshooting, and cross-functional collaboration, primarily within New York City and periodically to Metergy's Philadelphia office.
• Experience supporting field operations, service organizations, or technical support teams.
• Experience developing technical documentation, procedures, and training materials.
• Self-motivated and excellent work ethic
• Ability to both follow directions and think independently.
• Affinity for computers and software.
• High level of attention to detail, strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure.
• An understanding of electric, gas and / or water utility billing and rates is a plus, but willing to train the right candidate.
