Job summary

Confidential Wire Machinery Manufacturer seeks a Field Service Engineer to commission, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade wire drawing and related equipment across North America. You will install PLC/HMI systems, program controllers, and support startup at customer sites.

The role requires hands-on electrical troubleshooting, interpretation of schematics, and travel 120–150 days per year, often 3–4 week assignments, with company-paid travel expenses and per diem.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with industrial PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Experience with HMI programming and operator interface systems.

Responsibilities

• Commission wire drawing, stranding, extrusion, and heat treatment equipment.
• Install, configure, program, and troubleshoot PLC, HMI, and automation systems.
• Program, modify, and debug PLC software and HMI applications.
• Configure and troubleshoot VFDs, servo drives, and motion control systems.
• Electrical and controls troubleshooting on wire and cable machinery and lines.
• Read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control drawings.
• Diagnose electrical, PLC, networking, and motion control issues.
• Retrofit and modernize legacy machine controls.
• Support startup, optimization, and operator training at customer facilities.
• Prepare service reports with findings and recommendations.
• Communicate technical issues with engineering and project management teams.
• Travel 120–150 days/year across NA; assignments 3–4 weeks.
