Job summary

Palomar Technologies seeks a Tech Services Engineer to deliver on-site service and remote technical support for die bonders in microelectronics assembly. You will install, qualify, and maintain equipment to maximize uptime and yield while owning support cases end-to-end.

You will troubleshoot electromechanical systems, perform PMs, train customers, and collaborate with Engineering. Travel to customer sites is frequent.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechatronics/related field or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of field service or technical support for capital equipment.
• Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting with motors/servos, sensors, pneumatics.
• Ability to read wiring diagrams and mechanical drawings; use DMMs and metrology tools.
• Excellent customer communication, documentation, and case ownership under pressure.
• Familiarity with RCA/8D a plus; OEM service background desirable.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and qualify equipment at customer sites (new installs/upgrades/relocations).
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, motion, vision, and vacuum issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance, calibrations, alignments, and verification checks.
• Provide Tier 1–2 technical support via phone/email; log and close cases with actions taken.
• Remote diagnostics, analyze logs/data, and guide customers to reduce downtime.
• Coordinate escalation for complex issues and support knowledge base development.
