Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Field Service Engineer to design, program, install and support sophisticated electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic packaging machinery. You will primarily work on PLC/HMI programming, commissioning, and field troubleshooting with cross-functional teams and customers to deliver high-performance solutions.

The role requires strong Allen-Bradley PLC and Rockwell HMI experience, ability to read schematics, and travel up to 100% including nights/weekends.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of field service engineering or equivalent.
• Strong experience with Allen-Bradley PLC programming and troubleshooting.
• Proficient in Rockwell environments: RSLogix5/RSLogix500/RSLogix5000/Studio 5000/CCW.
• HMI programming experience in Rockwell environments (FactoryTalk View).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and draft using AutoCAD Electrical.
• Willing to travel up to 100% and work long hours during travel.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA-79, and UL-508 standards.

Responsibilities

• Interpret schematics and engineering drawings.
• Electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic design for packaging machinery.
• Program PLCs and peripherals on Rockwell platforms.
• Develop HMI programming using FactoryTalk View.
• Coordinate debug, power-up, and validation with teams.
• Travel to customer sites for installation, start-up and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot PLC and HMI programs in the field.
• Generate bills of materials from specs and drawings.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop customer-focused solutions.
• Document work and program updates in company system.
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety standards.
