Job summary

Kids for the Future in Charlotte, NC is seeking an Automation Field Service Technician to install and troubleshoot custom PLC and HMI designs at customer sites. You will be involved in design phase testing and work across multiple software platforms.

The Automation Field Service Technician will install and troubleshoot custom engineered PLC and HMI program designs at customer sites. The Technician will be involved during the project design phase in in-house solutions testing. Qualified candidates exhibit a habit of learning through a detail oriented and consistent approach to customer projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Installation of new, updated, and/or retrofitted filling machine hardware and software at customer site.
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with installed Siemens or Allen Bradley PLC and HMI software. Coordinate with Automation Engineer to optimize and finalize software design using information on site. Programs primarily in Studio 5000, RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk ME/SE, TIA Portal, Step 7, WinCC, and Zenon. PLC programs primarily designed in ladder logic.
• Participate in planned testing for prepared designs alongside technical staff in office, including identifying potential problems on site.
• Perform service based on agreed-upon customer requirements.
• Timely, complete and accurate Service Report filing following customer visits.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required. Associates degree preferred.
• 5 or more years’ experience in a related field and industry.
• 3 + years’ experience in Siemens and/or Allen Bradley programming required.
• Available to travel significantly domestically required.
• Experience with PLC and HMI programs.
• Knowledge of PackML programming principles a plus.
• Rockwell Studio 5000, FactoryTalk SE and Beckhoff TwinCAT 3 experience a plus.
• Experience with packaging machines a plus.
• Knowledge of German language and German standards (CE) a plus.
