Job summary

Frontmatec, part of the Fortifi family, seeks a Field PLC Specialist to diagnose, program, and optimize PLC-controlled equipment in food processing environments across North America. You will bridge field service and controls engineering, with escalation duties and customer-facing responsibilities.

The role requires hands-on work with Allen-Bradley and Siemens platforms, PLCs, VFDs, HMIs, and related automation components, plus travel readiness and a focus on reliability, yield improvements, and

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or automation, or equivalent.
3–5+ years of PLC programming and troubleshooting in an industrial setting.
Field service or commissioning experience in sanitary environments is a plus.
Ability to read electrical schematics and interpret drawings.
Fluent English with strong customer-facing communication.
Willingness to travel up to 70% across US and Canada.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and resolve complex PLC issues on Allen-Bradley/Siemens platforms.
Program and modify PLCs, drives, HMIs during service interventions and upgrades.
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment in production environments.
Provide on-site and remote maintenance and repairs for customer facilities.
Mentor Field Service Technicians on controls topics and safety compliance.
