Job summary

Orion Space Solutions, an Arcfield company, seeks a hands-on Field Service Engineer for optical sensor systems. You will develop, deploy, operate, and maintain OSIRIS sensors, assemble and test complex hardware, and support field campaigns at ranges, maritime, and remote locations.

You will troubleshoot across optical, mechanical, electrical, and computer subsystems, calibrate and align systems, document field modifications, and collaborate with scientists and engineers to translate field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering or computation field with professional experience in high-reliability space & aerospace applications.
• Experience as a test engineer or technician for complex electro-mechanical systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Deploy, install, configure, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and recover advanced electro-optical sensor systems at government ranges and other field-test locations.
• Support OSIRIS system deployments and other Orion optical sensing programs, including extended test campaigns away from the home facility.
• Perform field troubleshooting of optical, mechanical, electrical, computer, networking, thermal-management, and data-acquisition subsystems.
• Diagnose system failures using engineering fundamentals, test equipment, telemetry, software tools, and direct inspection.
• Assemble and integrate optical systems, including lenses, filters, cameras, detectors, optomechanics, computers, electronics, and environmental enclosures.
• Calibrate, boresight, align, and verify system performance; operate diagnostic equipment in lab and field settings.
• Maintain configuration control and document field modifications for reproducibility and future builds.
