Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing company, is seeking an Optical Systems Engineer (Senior/Principal) to oversee EO/IR payloads, laser systems, and space-vehicle interfaces. You will model mission phenomenology, develop tests, and coordinate with mission, systems, manufacturing and test teams.

Applicants should have extensive experience with space-based EO sensors, laser comms, and OCTs, plus the ability to obtain a US security clearance and citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree and 14+ years in optical engineering.
• 3+ years in performance/phenomenology modeling of space EO sensors.
• US Citizenship with ability to obtain a security clearance.
• 3 years experience with space-to-space/space-to-ground laser comms.
• 5 years mentoring team members.
• 20+ years in satellite optical instrumentation.
• On-orbit experience with OCTs.
• Ability to develop OCT link budgets.
• Experience with onboard/ground processing of optical data.
• Active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate mission and unit level requirements for EO/IR sensors and laser systems.
• Design and implement modeling and simulation of optical systems.
• Develop and execute unit and system level tests on ground and on-orbit.
• Manage supplier and partner performance.
• Coordinate complex projects with budget and schedule oversight.
• Support large-scale new business proposals.
