Job summary

Millennium Space Systems, a Boeing Company, seeks an Optical Systems Engineer to own mission performance requirements for EO/IR sensors and laser systems, and to model phenomenology for remote sensing missions. You will interface optical payloads with the space vehicle and data processing teams.

You will work with mission and systems engineers, manufacturing, and testing to lead payload systems end-to-end, develop simulations, and validate design goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree; 14+ years in optical engineering (advanced degrees may supplement years).
• Experience with performance/phenomenology/modeling of space-based EO sensors (3 years).
• Ability to obtain US citizenship and security clearance (US Government).

Responsibilities

• Develop and validate mission and unit level requirements for EO/IR sensors, lasers, and vehicle interfaces.
• Design and implement modeling and simulation of optical systems.
• Develop and execute unit and system level tests on ground and on-orbit to verify performance.
• Manage supplier and partner performance.
• Manage complex projects by coordinating statements, budget, and schedule; measure technical performance.
• Support large-scale new business proposals.
